TikTok for Real Estate

Have you taken to TikTok yet? If you think TikTok is just for teenagers, you are in for a big surprise. The video-sharing app has become the fastest-growing social media network of all time with more than 80 million active users in the U.S. alone. While the app first gained popularity with teenagers, the percentage of U.S.-based TikTok users from ages 20-39, which includes millennials at peak buying age, has soared to 45.9%, according to Comscore.

If you work in real estate, the opportunities are immense. Because TikTok uses engagement metrics to determine interest in a video, a new content creator does not need a large following or paid promotion for their video to appear on For You pages and go viral.

Find a character or voice that you would like to show to the world and start creating content that gets you noticed. Here are some tips to help you get started.

Be creative with real estate content

There are myriad ways to create viral content on TikTok. For real estate agents, this could be exploring hidden rooms and quirky interiors on camera, sharing video tours of homes before and after a remodel or home stage, and showing luxury home features such as infinity pools, high-tech equipment, and stunning views.

Consistency is key

Just like any other social media platform, to generate the best results you will need to be consistent. Create a content calendar and aim to post a few times per week.

Link to other platforms

One powerful feature of the app is the fact that it allows you to link out to Instagram and YouTube. If you have a lot of engagement on your Instagram, linking it to TikTok will help people discover you organically.

Use hashtags

Just like other social media platforms, hashtags on TikTok help users find posts that they are looking for. Adding relative hashtags to your posts will create traffic. If you are using a song or trend, be sure to use the related hashtag.

Hashtag challenges

Challenges are an essential feature of TikTok’s community. TikTok’s users love taking up a challenge and making and uploading videos accordingly. These challenges are usually given a #-tag name to make them both memorable and easy-to-find.

Answer questions your clients frequently ask

Try using a TikTok trend or you can simply film yourself answering a question, add the appropriate tags and some music to the background, and post it to TikTok.
