Real Estate Agents Give Advice on Current Housing Market

In the current housing market, real estate agents are being forced to navigate unusual situations with both buyers and sellers while the nation remains unsettled by the coronavirus. Popular news source  Forbes  recently spoke with agents, asking them how their jobs have changed during this time and what advice they’d like to give to customers. Here are some of their responses:

People are still buying and selling homes, but the industry is operating differently.  Different states have different regulations, but in most states across the U.S., homes can still be sold. Agents are now using video tours, virtual tours, and, in some cases, socially distanced tours of vacant properties.

Sellers may need to be patient and flexible.  Although spring is traditionally a hot seller’s market, sellers in the current market must understand that pricing flexibility and patience on home sales are key. Homes may take longer to sell, but buyers who look at the homes will likely be more serious about purchasing.

If you are waiting to sell, use this time to ready your home for listing.  If you are planning to put your home on the market, what better use is there of the downtime than preparing your home to be listed? Declutter and take care of small projects that will update your home and make it market-ready.

Don’t panic.  One thing is certain: People never stop moving for jobs and schools as well as for growing and downsizing families. While the market may be currently slow, it will pick back up after some time has passed.
